Sorry for rambling but here I go...

I have a nice wad that I like (eg internet channel wad). Now I wanted to add a new .tpl to the wad in customizemii. It's an image that was going to replace another one, but I didn't want to delete the original either. So I extracted the icon.brlyt and changed it to xmlyt with benzin. Edited it and added a new entry eg. icon12.tpl. Then where ever it said icon4.tpl I changed it to icon12.tpl. Changed my xmlyt back to brlyt, replaced the icon.brlyt in customizemii and clicked on list tpls. Sure enough my icon12.tpl is there. Great. Added the icon (same type, image size etc as icon4.tpl) but then when I installed the wad it banner bricked (well actually it "icon" bricked ).

So how can you "add" entries to a wad. Sure I can change images, swap things around etc. but I can't seem to add. Should I use a different tool other than customizemii? Do I need to edit somewhere else? Maybe it not the 00000000.app but something in the 00000001.app file? i.e. the .dol?

I can live without it, but it's just buggin me. And as you guys ARE the channel gurus I thought if anyone knows...they'll be on here

2 things spring to mind
1 the icon is now to big
2 benzin messed up the brlyt (most likely this one)

try a different version of benzin i suggest 1.2.1
ive had icon bricks because benzin messed up the file before

There are three places you need to add the new image

Image list at the top
Material list (mat1)
Picture (pic1)

Make sure you've done all three. If you add a picture tag and the material has non been defined you'll get a brick. Also, you're better off practicing with banners. They're less fragile and they are sloghtly quicker to unbrick
