Non forwarder channels

June 18th, 2016, 5:23 pm

Hello. I'm new to using this forum, however I've downloaded wads from here before and I never liked the concept of a forwarder.
I've always wanted real,DOL injected, channels on my Wii.
I've always considered forwarders useless, as they are just less capable versions of the Homebrew Channel.
Sure some may argue that they take up less space than DOL injected wads, but if you really wanted to save space on your wii, then why not just use the Homebrew Channel?
The Homebrew Channel is a forwarder to all DOLs
And I know many people hate having to go through the Homebrew Channel each time, but I don't.
It doesn't help that when people make and upload forwarders they call them "channels".
So please, post only DOL injected channels here
I would also like to see working Wiisx and Wii64 channels,NOT FORWARDERS.

Sincerely, Dolphin-1

The main argument I've heard supporting the use of forwarders is how you don't have to update the WAD file and reinstall it each time the app gets an update. This the puts less of a strain on the author of the channel, not having to commit to updating in every once in a while. It is also compatible with DOL files which uses external files in a relative path. I believe some homebrew games do this.
This however really isn't much of a problem anymore as the wii homebrew community has declined in recent years, and updates and fixes have become less and less frequent. But this has sadly also occurred here as well. There hasn't really been much activity here in the last years.

One solution is to get a forwarder that you like and inject your own .dol file into it. I believe all the tools are readily available still.

Thankfully, Google Code remains in read-only mode:
